Pascal Lava
In 2006 Pascal acquired a PhD in Nuclear Physics from Ghent University, building on his Master in Mathematics. From 2008 onwards he worked as a professor at the department Metallurgy and Materials engineering (MTM) at Leuven University, researching a.o. Digital Image Correlation (DIC) and material identification via virtual fields and finite element updating. His personal drive is to improve the general knowledge about DIC and its involved error sources – increasing the technique’s range of credibility and applicability. Pascal is a fellow of IDICS and received the SEM A. J. Durelli Award for outstanding contributions to DIC. Pascal Lava is author of more than 40 peer-reviewed journal papers and co-founder and Managing Director at MatchID.
When he’s not working, Pascal can be found with his wife and two daughters, and he also loves running and playing football.
